Streamlining Success: How Three Restaurants Optimize Operations with Square and Resy
By Ariel Kanter•9 min read
Square for Restaurants POS software and Resy’s table management platform share a common goal: to help make the nitty–gritty tasks of running a restaurant simpler, so you can focus on driving revenue and creating stellar guest experiences. Setting up an integration between Square POS and Resy OS (a top pick on Square’s App Marketplace) means you can keep service moving seamlessly with real-time course statuses, get actionable data about guest preferences and top-performing menu items, and delegate manual tasks while focusing on your guests. It’s where hospitality magic happens.
Don’t just take our word for it. We spoke to three restaurants that have already found success by integrating Square with Resy. Here’s how it’s going.

Integrated Data Captures Menu Favorites and Trends at Corto in Jersey City
As Corto celebrates their 7th year in Jersey City, their Resy and Square integration lets them stay on top of guest favorites while still offering a rotating menu. With the integration, they can see historical check data in Resy and refer back to it when a guest visits again to deliver a tailored customer experience.
“The POS system allows us to understand what a guest’s favorite dish is and figure out trends, even if the menu is always changing. Maybe we’ll find out guests really love cheesy pasta or have a preference for mushrooms,” said partner and executive chef Matt Moschella. “This allows us to take care of everyone. It adds a level of granular data for us to improve our business.”
Moschella also relies heavily on the Resy OS and Square POS integration because the restaurant’s popular year-round outdoor dining space isn’t visible to the maître d’ by the door.
“Automatically having the progress of the table status in Resy has saved us a lot of effort. If we didn’t have that, we’d have to walk around the room more often and communicate more amongst the staff. This allows us to skip the step of internal comms and focus more on serving our guests,” said Moschella.
Real-Time Table Status Saves Time and Effort to Focus on the Customer at The Roxy
Over at The Roxy in Jersey City, operations look a little different. The space is much more intimate, and with just 40 seats, they don’t employ a maître d’. This is likely why owner and general manager Justin Buzzio wears so many hats.
Buzzio appreciates the Resy and Square integration because it allows front waiters, who also greet guests and change courses, to look at the floorplan on their devices and see which course diners are on without having to touch anything or press any buttons. “This allows our team to intuit what’s happening. Figuring out what course people are on and marking it down somewhere is one less thing we have to do, so we can focus our energy on the guest experience,” said Buzzio. “That’s paramount.”
Getting to Know the Community at Cafe Spaghetti
At Cafe Spaghetti in Brooklyn, managing partner Giovanna Cucolo also appreciates how the Square and Resy integration saves her team time. “Our backyard is separate from our front door, and often we need a second host on busier nights, but the integration helps us get the information we need about table status faster, which helps us make decisions about walk-ins and wait estimates faster, too,” she said.
Another feature her team loves? The guest notes. “Our hosts are keen on updating guest notes to see trends. This helps us remember guest favorites and preferences. Even if we do remember what they like, it’s nice to have that confirmation in the app,” said Cucolo. As Cafe Spaghetti gears up to take on private events, like weddings and showers, this type of personalization and customer care is critical for converting diners into potential future (and regular) clients.
