Why We Like It

At this buzzy Somerville spot, the atmosphere reads New York City diner, but the food might surprise you. Chūka cuisine (or Chinese cuisine viewed through a Japanese lens) takes the stage here, and you can expect signature dishes like sweet-and-sour pork and matzo ball wonton soup.

Need to Know

We share the front entrance to Aeronaut Brewing Company's taproom - please ensure you are prepared with a valid government-issued ID during Aeronaut's operating hours. If there is a line at the front door because Aeronaut is at capacity, please see a member of their security team to let them know you have a reservation at Mimi's and they will be able to cross-check your reservation on the list we have provided them.

Please also note that beers purchased from Aeronaut may not be consumed on Mimi's Chuka Diner's premises as we have separate alcohol licenses.

Parking can be challenging - it is Somerville, after all. Luckily there is an L-shaped lot on the corner of Dane and Tyler Street that belongs to Somernova that is available after 5:00pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.

About Mimi's Chuka Diner

Mimi's Chuka Diner is a cozy owner-operated 36-seat restaurant located between Union and Porter Square in Somerville. We serve "chūka ryōri," which is a style of cuisine that adapts Chinese dishes to Japanese palates/cooking methods. Mimi's combines that with traditional American diner influences while providing warm, welcoming service. Our food is designed to be comforting, shareable, and crave-worthy.

The menu features savory dishes like homemade dumplings, decadent garlic noodles, matzo ball soup, and a hearty house ground burger with hand-cut fries. Alongside our food, we serve a carefully curated selection of house cocktails, tailored wine program, beer, sake, and non-alcoholic beverages.
