Why We Like It

If you love Chinatown’s August Gatherings, chances are you’ll love Yao, a contemporary take on Cantonese classics from the AG team. (Also, if you haven’t yet been to August Gatherings, get to it.) At Yao, expect to find exciting variations on delicacies like abalone, sea cucumber, and fish maw; standards with unexpected touches, like mapo tofu with lobster; and August Gatherings’ signature fusilli with wild octopus and bone marrow. P.S. They’ve also got a six-course tasting menu, too.

Need to Know

For $338 Tang Jia Yan, please be sure to call us at least 3 days ahead to confirm your reservation. Reserve on Resy can only guarantee a table for your party, but not guarantee the Tang Jia Yan.
Directions to the restaurant: Enter Courtyard Marriott and take elevator located on the right side from entrance. Parking direction: We partner with 201 Pearl Street, an indoor parking space right next to YAO. Bring your ticket and get validated when you check out. Rate: $25 for 3 hours. Valid 5 pm - 11 pm Monday through Friday, and 11:30 am - 11 pm on weekend.

Nestled in the sophisticated atmosphere of the Financial District, YAO offers a modern Cantonese dining experience. Executive Chef Kenny's culinary expertise, rooted in classical Cantonese training, seamlessly blends with international inspirations to craft each dish. We provide both an à la carte menu and tasting menus starting from $338 per person (reservation at least 3 days ahead). In addition, we have assembled a tight wine list that starts from $50 to $2000 Burgundy.

Every detail of YAO’s interior reflects the harmonious blend of Chef Kenny’s culinary art and his meticulous eye for design. The venue includes three private dining rooms and a spacious dining hall. The Garden Room features 34-foot-high ceilings, extendable to accommodate up to 50 guests.
Dining Time Policy:
To ensure all guests have a comfortable dining experience, we kindly ask that parties of fewer than 6 guests enjoy a dining time of up to 1.5 hours, and parties of 6 or more guests enjoy a dining time of up to 2 hours.
