Why We Like It

New York's first dim sum joint (c. 1920) is a classic for our times. The old diner-style bones remain, but the dim sum has grown as contemporary as Nom Wah is historic: egg rolls have been upgraded to a newer “original” model with an egg crepe wrapped in; classic turnip cakes are now cubed and tricked out with XO sauce. The result is irresistible.

Need to Know

Nom Wah takes limited reservations for parties of 3-5 people online. Walk-ins are always welcome.

About Nom Wah Tea Parlor

The unique culinary art of dim sum (Cantonese) or dian xin (Mandarin), meaning “a little bit of heart” or “touch the heart,” originated in China centuries ago. Nom Wah was notably New York's very first dim sum joint, and has been serving dumplings, scallion pancakes, fried rice, and sweets like steamed lotus buns and almond cookies — since 1920.
