Housed in the Breuer Building, Marcel is a stunning restaurant serving up fine continental cuisine with a French emphasis from Roman and Williams, the same team behind La Mercerie at The Guild. The best part, besides the tableside côte de boeuf preparation? Almost anything you see inside the restaurant, from the silverware to the paintings, can be purchased and taken home with you if your tastes desire.

Lateness happens. We allow for a 15-minute grace period, after which we can no longer guarantee your table. If you’re running behind, we suggest you call to let us know.

Reservations cancelled fewer than 24 hours in advance will incur a $50 per person fee. (This also applies to unfulfilled reservations.)

Please dress the part: Ours is a room designed to flatter, and we encourage you to rise to the occasion with smart attire.

At Marcel, the newly revitalized dining room in an architectural landmark on the Upper East Side, Chef Marie-Aude Rose’s lavish, hearty French Continental cuisine gets the setting it deserves—and so do the city’s bon vivants and connoisseurs of culture. With a jaw-dropping design by owners Roman and Williams and a rotating display of fine art and rare objects courtesy of Sotheby’s, which recently took over the Breuer building, the mid-sixties Brutalist masterpiece is now a destination for whole turbot and côte de boeuf, pastry-crowned onion soup, escargots of dreams redolent with parsley and garlic, or an appropriately spirited, cherry-topped baba au rhum. Like what you see? That Helen Frankenthaler painting on the wall, perhaps? The custom-designed silver flatware on your table? A croissant or fluted tart from La Mercerie Pâtisserie in the center of the room? You can take it all with you. Just say the word, and a specialist will be right over.
