Why We Like It
As the name suggests, the frena, a traditional communal Moroccan oven, is the centerpiece of this lively restaurant where Taboon once stood. Lucky for us, Taboon’s chef Efi Naon’s is back, too, serving up dishes like perfectly cooked lamb terracotta and shish barak.
Need to Know

About Frena
Frena is a modern Middle Eastern concept in Hell's Kitchen that celebrates a rich heritage of food, wine and tradition. The restaurant is named for a Moroccan oven often shared by a community. Frena’s own oven stands as a centerpiece of the restaurant, producing dishes from seasoned stones. Frena embodies the spirit of togetherness and camaraderie, which can be felt in the shared dips and frena-fired breads it serves. From tantalizing shared platters to frena-roasted meats and fresh, fragrant bread, customers will enjoy a new take on Middle Eastern food and Moroccan heritage.
When making reservations for our cozy outdoor patio, please consider weather conditions, as we cannot guarantee indoors availability.
