Why We Like It

If you loved what chef Travis Lett did at Gjelina, just wait until you taste his take on pork belly chashu ramen, gyoza with crispy, lacy bottoms, and karaage chicken with hot honey. In collaboration with Ian Robinson, Lett’s Californication of an izakaya fits buzzy Abbot Kinney right down to the ume highballs and hand rolls.

Need to Know

Please note our booking policies as follows:

1. Parties of two are allotted 90 minutes; parties of four or more are allotted two hours.
2. We hold reservations for 15 minutes past the scheduled time, after which uncommunicated arrivals may be released.
3. Seating is a mix of bar stools and dining chairs in the main dining room and rooftop patio, and specific placement cannot be guaranteed however connect with the maitre'd upon arriving to see what is available.
4. Bar seating is reserved dining and not first-come, first-served.
5. Reservation confirmation is required by 2:00 PM on the day of booking or the table will be released.

RVR is a Japanese Izakaya / Tavern which combines the epic traditions of everyday Japanese drinking fare with the abundant and colorful bounty of California seasonal produce and local fisheries. We aim to showcase the more informal, laid back, and casually elegant side to the Japanese table. Our intention is to pay reverence to one of the most dynamic food landscapes in the world while placing it firmly into the modern southern California food scene. RVR is ultimately a love letter to our collective fascination and respect of Japan, and a reflection of the multicultural tapestry of the Los Angeles food community.
