Why We Like It

It only took 13 years for the Kata Robata team to launch a second restaurant ... and what a restaurant it is. With a razor-sharp focus on sushi, Katami is where “Chef Hori” goes deep on premium Japanese fish (à la carte nigiri is offered, but if you want to splurge, there’s an omakase). A5 Wagyu and a stellar sake list complement the menu, but don’t skip the more creative dishes — we’ve got our eye on the foie gras PBJ milk bread ...

Need to Know

Katami does offer an Omakase with Chef Hori-san. Omakase is only available at the Sushi Bar with limited reservations per day. Only available when the "Omakase" option is available (above in blue) when selecting your booking area. Please visit our website for more information regarding Omakases.

We do accept walk-ins, with very limited availability on weekends. Reservations are always strongly recommended. Valet is offered, by Harlow District, in the front and back of the restaurant. Limited self parking is available in the parking lot and on the residential streets surrounding Katami.

About Katami

Four-time James Beard Award-nominated chef Manabu Horiuchi, (Chef Hori- San) Partner Yun Cheng and Managing Partner Ryan Snyder have opened a new sushi, wagyu, and sake-focused restaurant in Montrose.

Katami, a name that translates to “gift” or “keepsake” in Japanese, represents what Chef Hori-San believes is the future of Japanese cuisine in America. It is his gift to the city of Houston, for the love you have shown him over the 15 years since he and Yun introduced our sister restaurant, Kata Robata.
