Why We Like It

This family-owned gem has held court in the Loop since 1927, making it the oldest Italian restaurant in Chicago. Famous for its twinkle lights and frescoed walls, the Village is chock full of lore (rumored to be both the home of Chicago’s first chicken Vesuvio, and a favorite haunt of Al Capone) and deliciously nostalgic comfort dishes, like veal marsala scallopini and the house specialty lasagne. It also boasts one of the city’s most impressive — and surprisingly affordable — wine cellars.

Need to Know

Walk-ins welcome, but reservations are encouraged! For parties of 7 or more, please call the restaurant directly at 312.332.7005 for reservations. Adding yourself to the "Notify" list is not a confirmed reservation.

In order to accommodate all of our guests, we may limit reservations to two hours or less during peak business. We are happy to try to accommodate changes to your reservation - please try to let us know prior to your arrival at the restaurant.

Parking: We offer Valet from Tuesday - Friday starting at 5:00 pm and on Saturday & Sunday starting at 11:00 am. We do not offer Valet on Monday. Street parking is available as well as public parking garages nearby.

Italian immigrant Alfredo Capitanini began his American Dream as a dishwasher and ended up building a monumental restaurant paying homage to his Northern Italian roots with dishes inspired and adapted from his hometown of Lucca in the foothills of Tuscany.
For the last 90+ years, The Village has stood as a bastion of Italian-American tradition and exuberance. With over 1,200 wines to choose from, we know you’ll find something to fill your cup!
