Why We Like It
After working at restaurants across Chicago, Emidio Oceguera returned to his Pilsen neighborhood to open this intimate restaurant and cocktail bar. Tucked away in a historic building that once housed his father’s pool hall and his mother’s taqueria, the venue reflects Oceguera’s local history and Mexican heritage with a drinks list featuring Mexican beer and wine selections plus house cocktails, and a fun, focused menu of dishes like duck carnitas nachos and beet tacos.
Need to Know
• WALK-INS are always welcome from open to close! We never reserve all of our seating to ensure there is first-come, first-served seating available each night. Please note we only seat complete parties & do not take walk-in requests over the phone (only in person). If there are no available seats when you arrive, you can join the waitlist, and we'll contact you when your spots are available. • RESERVATIONS are accepted 5 PM - 8:30 PM each night & available up to 14 days in advance (new dates become available at 12 PM). We are an intimate space with only ~30 seats & want to ensure we remain as accessible as possible for our guests. Consequently, all reservations have a 2-hour time limit (starting from the booked time). We have a 15-minute grace period for all parties. We'll do our best to accommodate, but any party arriving later than this will forfeit their reservation. We appreciate your understanding. • PARKING along Halsted Street is free.

• CERDITO MUERTO is a contemporary cocktail bar & Mexican-American kitchen in Pilsen. It's the brainchild of a first-generation Mexican-American kid who grew up on this very street, in this very space. It’s the second iteration of a family business & beloved community gathering spot (formerly known as The Poolhall & Tacos Palacio). The building pre-dates the Chicago Fire (~1853) & has been Mexican-owned for three generations. This place means a lot to us & we hope you can feel it when you’re here. • BEVERAGE PROGRAM: Homemade Squirt - yes, homemade - on draft (try it in Guillermo's Paloma). Inspired syrups & cordials made from scratch. Fresh-squeezed clarified juices. We don’t use any imitation flavoring in our bar; this is the foundation of our meticulous cocktail program. Couple this practice with an intentional selection of curated spirits, beers & wines built to center Mexican-owned brands. We’ve created a one-of-a-kind collection & we can’t wait to share it with you. • FOOD PROGRAM: To honor our Mera Mera, Consuelo & our ancestors from Jalisco, MX, our contemporary menu is infused with rural Mexican staples.
