Why We Like It
If you’re used to omakase experiences — and there are many around town these days — you’ll be hard-pressed to find something like this slick 12-seater from chef Sangtae Park. He and partner Kate Park turn the Chicago steakhouse idea on its head, offering multi-course tasting menus centered around beef. Just like at their Michelin-starred Omakase Yume, expect to be wowed by every course — but given the tasting menu format, know that gluten and soy allergies cannot be accommodated.
Need to Know
Welcome to Bonyeon! We offer a 10-course, beef-focused Korean tasting menu. Each cut is prepared through Korean culinary structure and seasoning philosophy, emphasizing the flavors of fermentation and time, and paired with seasonal ingredients that frame the character of beef. Select seafood courses are included for balance and contrast.
Reservations are required.
Bonyeon’s tasting menu is set at $165 per person. Two seating options per night at 5:00pm or 8pm with 12 people per seating time. Each seating will take 2-2.5 hours.
About Bonyeon
Bonyeon (본연), meaning “original,” is Chicago’s first beef-centric Korean tasting menu. Our 10-course experience explores beef through a Korean culinary lens, with each course highlighting a different preparation — from raw and cured to grilled and slow-cooked. Rooted in Korean tradition, the menu is guided by fermentation and time-honored techniques, bringing depth and balance to every course. Select seafood dishes are woven in to create contrast within the progression. The experience is complemented by curated beverage pairings, including our Korean Sool Pairing featuring traditional soju, makgeolli, and cheongju.
