Why We Like It

When Bintou N’Daw moved from her native Senegal to Charleston, she found familiar foodstuffs — okra, peanuts, black-eyed peas, rice, and more — but no African restaurants. So she opened this one, in a homey East Side cottage, serving dishes that you won’t want to miss.

Need to Know

The outdoor dining spaces have limited coverage (covered enclosure with heating); in case of inclement weather, reservations may be canceled. No fee will be charged. The indoor space is limited, parties of 6 or more must call in advance. Street parking is available for 2 hours. We are a small restaurant, same day cancellation fees will be charged.

At Bintü Atelier, we invite you to slow down and savor. Our intimate African restaurant in downtown Charleston celebrates the rich, nomadic culinary traditions of the continent and its diaspora. Chef Bintu N'Daw crafts each dish with care, drawing on flavors that deserve time and attention.

This is not fast food—this is slow cooked, soulful food. Our cozy space is designed for lingering, storytelling, and enjoying every bite. We appreciate your patience as we prepare your meal with the love and intention it deserves.

Currently, we remain alcohol free; BYOB is available with a corkage fee.
