Why We Like It

An extension of The Red Hen and All Purpose Pizza, Aventino brings Bethesda a sprawling space for Roman-leaning dishes, like antipasti, handmade pastas (rigatoni with guanciale and pecorino, for instance), and gelato. A Negroni or Aperol spritz at the jewel-toned, marble-topped bar is always a good idea.

About Aventino Cucina

Aventino is the latest from executive chef, owner and James Beard semifinalist Mike Friedman, and the team behind beloved DC restaurants All-Purpose Pizzeria, The Red Hen, and Boundary Stone Public House. Aventino serves traditional Roman cuisine with nods to the Roman-Jewish ghetto and Mid-Atlantic seasonal ingredients, alongside classic cocktails, including a selection of spritzes and negronis, as well as a spanning, Italian-leaning wine list. The 130-seat inviting, bi-level space is anchored by a large, emerald and marble-clad bar and features large glass windows that fill the space with natural light.
