Need to Know
We reserve our dining room as well as our covered patio (which has heaters and fans). Be sure to select the location you prefer. Keep in mind we have our bar available for walk-ins. Downtown parking can be found through metered spaces on the street or parking decks on Washington St. and College Ave.; we do not have our own designated parking lot. If you are running behind, please call the restaurant at 706-549-3450. We will hold tables for a 15 minute grace period prior to releasing the reservation. Reservations are recommended but walk-ins are also accepted! Party size maximum is 8 guests. For larger groups, contact erin@thenationalrestaurant.com and note that these reservations are subject to a no-show cancellation fee. We reserve the right to enforce a two-hour maximum occupancy time for any reservations.
About The National
The idea behind The National is simple: to provide a neighborhood gathering spot reminiscent of the cafés and bars we’ve enjoyed on travels near and far. Enjoy Mediterranean-inspired food, wine and craft cocktails served for lunch & dinner by a staff that values hospitality and delight. While our menu points to culinary traditions from abroad, we support our local farmers and our dishes reflect the changing seasons in Northeast Georgia. Opened in 2007, you'll find us in downtown Athens inside the renovated historic Recap Plant building alongside Ciné, our local arthouse cinema.
