Santa Monica
Xuntos
In downtown Santa Monica, this regional taperia from chef Sandra Cordero (Gasolina Cafe) is a neighborhood favorite for a reason. Its namesake is the Gallego word for “together,” which accurately describes the vibe: it’s a true local gathering place. Either order à la carte (choose from items like jamon Iberico or crispy cod fritters), or opt for the $75 tapas tasting menu with an optional $50 wine pairing. And don’t miss the full menu of conservas to start.
Melrose
Stir Crazy
Consider this the chicest snack bar you’ve ever been to. A trio of restaurant vets transformed a standby Melrose coffee shop into this casual wine bar and restaurant. The low-intervention wine program features many unique finds and affordable bottles from both local and international producers, and the food menu is constantly changing and features everything from briny crudos to creative veggie dishes.

Manhattan Beach
Coucou – Manhattan Beach
The popular Venice bistro just expanded to the South Bay, making this the third location for the French-inspired concept from owners Jesse and Hayley Feldman. The viral L’Haute Dog and soft serve sundae will of course be on the menu here plus takes on classics like tuna tartare, lobster spaghetti, and steak au poivre. A daily Apero hour from 5-6 p.m. features discounted ice-cold martinis, French aperitifs, and local wines to get the evening rolling.
Victor Heights
Morihiro
Sushi legend Morihiro “Mori” Onodera (the protégé of the famed sushi master Jiro Ono) opened his eponymous sushiya in Atwater during the COVID lockdown that began in LA in fall 2020, launching with to-go omakase boxes. After a few years in Atwater, he relocated to a space on the border of Echo Park and Victor Heights, bringing with him a $400 a head omakase plus a new menu of à la carte dishes in an exciting 18-seat space.
Thai Town
Jitlada
This iconic Thai kitchen run by chef Sarintip “Jazz” Singsanong and her family is famous for its sprawling menu and unapologetically intense Southern Thai specialties — think turmeric-stained curries, the famous morning glory salad, and seafood preparations like a massive garlic dungeness crab. But perhaps the most unifying experience is signing up for a table by writing your name on a paper list outside and milling around the parking lot waiting to be called. Well in 2026, get ready for a groundbreaking new Jitlada experience…reservations.

Los Angeles
Mitsi
Mumford & Sons’ Ben Lovett is the mastermind behind this moody new bar and sushi restaurant at the intersection of Chinatown and Mission Junction. Located next door to his music venue, Pacific Electric, Mitsi focuses on classic drinks like the Paloma, Junglebird, and Old Fashioned, alongside a simple sushi menu highlighting nigiri and hand rolls from chef Jon Kim. It’s the perfect vibey spot to duck in for a bite either before or after a show next door.
West Hollywood
Somni
L.A.’s most exclusive tasting-menu destination, Somni earned three Michelin stars after its West Hollywood relaunch under chef Aitor Zabala (an elBulli alum). Once a tiny 10-seat counter in the SLS hotel, the reinvented Somni seats just 14 guests for a meticulously choreographed, Spanish-inflected tasting journey that blends molecular gastronomy with California ingredients. With dishes like dashi meringue with caviar and shiso tartare tempura, the intimate, theater-like experience is one of the most coveted reservations in town.

Silver Lake
Amiguita
This new Afro-Carribean inspired spot features a tight, family-style menu from “Top Chef” alum, Alejandro Eusebio. The menu reflects his childhood growing up in the Dominican Republic and features dishes cooked in a Mibrasa (charcoal oven) including vacafrita, a Cuban hanger steak dish made with sour orange mojo. Mara Herbkersman, a longtime friend and collaborator, leads the beverage program with fermented cocktails and zero-proof options like a take on the classic Dominican drink, MorirSoñando.
“High on my list: Amiguita, debuted this spring in the former The Ruby Fruit space and poised to bring a much-needed change of pace to Silver Lake.” – Kelly Dobkin

Drinks like the Bangkok Blush (mango, Cognac, arbol chile) and Disco Beach Ball (tequila, coconut, banana, lime) will keep the party rolling, alongside a killer hi-fi system and a throwback vibe. El Sereno
Evil Cooks
What began as a rebellious backyard pop-up has evolved into one of L.A.’s most inventive taquerias. Husband-and-wife chefs Alex and Elvia Garcia channel thrash-metal energy into genre-bending Mexican cooking — think octopus al pastor, cheeseburger tacos, and a wildly creative dinner menu that pulls from global flavors. The small, black-walled space feels punk and DIY, but the cooking is serious, imaginative, and vegan-friendly too.

Night on Earth
Tucked along the Cahuenga Pass near Universal City, Night on Earth is the neon-soaked cocktail bar from the team behind Thunderbolt. The retro-futuristic space leans into playful, high-tech drinks that riff on party classics, from clarified and carbonated Pornstar Martinis to espresso martini remixes. Straight out of a movie set, the Art Deco-inspired destination is known for its classic martinis, the Tower burger, and a photo-worthy take on shrimp cocktail.
