All-Around Favorites

Tomat

map

Westchester

The tri-story Westchester restaurant from husband-and-wife team Harry Posner and Natalie Dial just launched brunch, and their overachieving global menu is stacked with options. The housemade French pastry list includes pistachio croissants, sausage rolls (a nod to Posner’s British roots), and strawberry tarts, among others. On the savory end, enjoy everything from Danish smørrebrød to croque monsieurs to a half English breakfast served with their signature barbari bread (inspired by Posner’s Persian heritage). On the drinks front, Tomat’s coffee program is outstanding, with highlights like a koji miso caramel latte, cardamom tahini house-roasted hojicha tea, or hot chocolate with a layer of torched meringue. The best news? Their third floor rooftop patio is reopening just in time for spring, with views of both the city and airplanes taking off from nearby LAX.

Cypress Park

The Portuguese-inspired Cypress Park petiscaria from Last Word Hospitality recently expanded their space from tiny to mid-sized, and is still wildly popular almost every night of the week. While they don’t do brunch per se, it’s open during the day on Saturday and Sunday, offering its full menu of savory dishes like head-on prawns with cracked chile, marjoram, and lime; piri piri chicken, and whole-roasted branzino. An impressive selection of natural wines, sherries, Madeira, and Basque vermuts are worth the trip alone.

Virgil Village

The all-day, indoor-outdoor Virgil Village gem from UK-born chef Jared Dowling has a menu that reads like a greatest hits of all your favorite restaurants, with a Japanese slant. Order everything from baked eggs and merguez to a perfect California breakfast burrito to karaage fried chicken and waffles served with orange chili maple syrup. And if you’re feeling more of a lunch-y vibe, try their excellent Comte burger or fish tempura tacos.

Bess

map

Sierra Madre

In the charming mountainside hamlet of Sierra Madre, newcomer Bess has an intimate, easygoing vibe, with red leather stools, soft flattering lighting, and a fun wood-paneled photo booth. While they’re known in the evening for upmarket spins on red sauce favorites, they recently launched brunch on weekends, with dishes like marbled banana bread, a hot honey omelette with crispy mozzarella, and a zippy bucatini carbonara with eggs and parm. Don’t worry–their signature lasagna, with lemon-herb ricotta and housemade sauce, is available for brunch, too, along with spritzers, bellinis, and a “Winey Mary” made with pinot grigio and tomato juice.

Echo Park

Echo Park’s latest hotspot strikes a perfect balance between elevated and unassuming, featuring dishes that showcase chef Andrew Ponce’s unique POV as a French-trained chef with roots in both L.A. and Mexico. While there’s no specific brunch menu, a new weekend lunch menu has recently been added on Sundays and features items like street-style tacos, tamales, and pozole alongside cocktails that pull from both Mexican and Japanese cuisines (think a plum paloma, a classic margarita, or a boozy agua fresca).

Highly Likely Highland Park

map

Highland Park

Chef/owner Kat Turner teamed up with Cary Mosier from Gracias Madre and the owners of HERE Studio to open a new outpost of her hit all-day cafe, Highly Likely, in a sprawling space in Highland Park in late 2023. On the all-day menu, you’ll find standards like the cheekily named Ubiquitous Avo Toast, chilaquiles, and even a bodega-inspired breakfast sando. But the dish you’ll likely see on every table is the Chicken N Waffle: Black sesame waffle, fried chicken strips, hot honey, and miso honey butter — a reimagining of one of L.A.’s most iconic dishes. And it’ll be easy to make a day out of it once you’re sipping on piña coladas in their massive backyard patio.

Harold & Belle's Restaurant

map

Jefferson Park

Generous portions, family-run hospitality, and some of the best gumbo, po’boys, and Louisiana-style catfish dinners are just a few reasons regulars flock to this South L.A. staple. With a fresher look (third-generation owners, Ryan and Jessica Legaux, spruced things up a few years ago) and more room to spread out, it’s a go-to for group gatherings.

Margot

map

Culver City

With sweeping views of Culver City from its glass-box dining room and outdoor lounge, Margot is the perfect perch for brunch with friends. The menu leans Mediterranean with crudo, whole grilled fish, lots of seasonal vegetables, pastas, and oysters, but there are plenty of brunch (some vegan) options like avocado toast, eggs and polenta, and French toast. Espresso martinis are happening here, too.

Lunasia Dim Sum House

map

Alhambra

Long known as one of the San Gabriel Valley’s best dim sum restaurants, Lunasia has since expanded to four locations across greater L.A. (one opened in Cerritos during the pandemic, and the latest debuted in Torrance in 2022). Expect similar menus at all: classic all-day options like handmade dumplings, barbecued meats, congee, noodles, and more. Torrance is a bit more pared down, but it has a patio. All locations take reservations for groups of eight or more, otherwise it’s first-come, first-serve.

Call to reserve for groups above 8; more info here.

Daisy

map

Sherman Oaks

The colorful cantina-inspired spot from beverage director Max Reis and Michelin-recognized chef Alan Sanz riffs on Mexican classics like tacos, chilaquiles, and crudos while celebrating the Norteño cantinas where the margarita—aka the “daisy”—was born. Don’t sleep on the pan dulce menu to start, including items like dulce de leche sticky buns, Mexican biscuits, and an onion-cheese Danish with cotija guava curd, paired with one of their famous margaritas (made with a purely Mexican spirits list).

Dante Beverly Hills

map

Beverly Hills

The award-winning cocktail bar that helped popularize Italian aperitivo culture in New York made the jump to California in 2023, bringing its Amalfi-inspired vibes all the way to a chic landing pad in Beverly Hills. The hotspot recently added a brunch menu that includes huevos rancheros verde, acai bowls, and steak tartare, plus shareable snacks like a breakfast burrata and homemade banana bread. The indoor-outdoor setup atop the Maybourne Beverly Hills hotel specializes in spritzes, among other aperitivo drinks, plus a martini happy hour every day between 3-5 p.m.

Los Feliz

This multi-level ode to Mexican cuisine will transport you to Oaxaca without leaving Los Feliz. The brunch menu from chef Alan Sanz features everything from brunch staples like chilaquiles and a breakfast burrito to Mexi-fied takes on classics like their Pan Francais (aka French toast) made with bay leaf horchata, key lime, and brioche. Their lineup of all Mexican-based spirits makes for perfect margaritas, festive slushies, or a formidable list of mezcals to pair with your meal.

Silver Lake

An Indian sports bar, you say? Echo Park native and Dodger fan Avish Naran is behind the disruptor concept — ostensibly a spot for wings and pizza, though the genre-bending Malai Rigatoni has been one of the most Instagrammed dishes of recent years. (Along with the equally photogenic — and delicious — dosa-battered onion rings). While the weekend daytime menu is the same as dinner, it could be an easier time to try and snag a table.

Tacolina

map

Silver Lake

Inspired by the charming seaside town Todos Santos on Mexico’s Baja peninsula, this Silver Lake newcomer’s lush, vibey, and completely outdoor setting is the perfect way to teleport to a beach vacation. When it comes to brunch, enchiladas rojas, breakfast tortas, and classic chilaquiles get the job done, leaving you time to linger over Bloody Marias and plan your next international getaway.

West Hollywood

Arguably one of L.A.’s best rooftops, there’s always a celebration going on here, even at brunch time. Just picture it: Lingering on a sunny afternoon, the verdant green Hollywood Hills in the background, pitchers of cocktails on repeat, and waffle fries, tacos, burgers, and fried chicken sandwiches shared among friends. And sometimes strangers, because it definitely feels like a party up here.

Venice

Travis Lett’s impossible-to-get-into izakaya on Abbot Kinney launched brunch in 2025, making it slightly easier to book on certain days of the week. Start with the crispy grain pancake, mochi beignets, or a tamagoyaki omelette made with Comte, chive and black pepper, and finish with a wagyu brisket burger, duck ramen or a katsu sando if you’re looking for a hangover cure. On the lighter side, hand rolls, a seasonally rotating veggie menu, and mocktails like a phony Negroni help balance things out.

Santa Monica

Impress out-of-town visitors (or yourself) with the stunning ocean views from this Santa Monica hotel restaurant located inside the revamped Georgian Hotel. Brunch features classics like a breakfast burrito and buttermilk pancakes, sandwiches and salads, and an over-the-top croissant French toast souffle. There’s even a full caviar service available if you really want to ball out — and with views this good, why not?

Cobi's

map

Santa Monica

You don’t need a special occasion to dine at this Santa Monica favorite, but the notoriously difficult dinner table is actually much easier to snag during brunch. The Southeast Asian-inspired menu is like a palate cleanser for the tired old brunch formula. Indulge in items like kaya French toast, a beef rendang roti wrap, stellar crispy fried chicken and bubur ayam rice porridge. Wash it down with boozy boba made with Vietnamese coffee and shochu, or classics like Bloody Marias and mimosas.

Santa Monica

Chef Zach Pollack brings his bread-driven approach to a breezy new brunch menu best enjoyed on the restaurant’s sunny patio. The daytime menu leans into casual handhelds—like the classic Italian “Stepmother” sub, the sabich-ish pizza wrap with fried eggplant and amba, and a chicken Caesar wrap—alongside crisp salads, antipasti, and signature pizzas. Built on house hoagie loaves and Pollack’s custom “pizza wraps,” the sandwiches showcase the kitchen’s meticulous approach to bread, fillings, and bold Italian flavors.
